Mobilizon is a fediverse-based event hosting platform. In my ongoing attempt to move away from Facebook, this is a useful replacement for Facebook events.

Choosing an instance

Unlike Matrix, Mobilizon doesn't have as obvious a centralised server to use by default. The instance list has 83 servers, of which about half have a decently modern version of the software installed, but the biggest users are (somewhat surprisingly) non-English-speaking ones.

I'm currently using Iridescent, which is associated with the NZ Open Source Society.
